Azul Airlines: Our Gateway to Brazil
Starting almost thirty years ago, a large number of Portuguese-speaking Brazilian people began moving to Martha’s Vineyard, where they found jobs and formed their own community.
Since the U.S. Census does not count people from Brazil as an ethnic group, the number of Brazilians living on the Island remains a matter for speculation. But we don’t need hard numbers to feel their influence — in the food, customs, religion and language. Portuguese is spoken in churches and in health care centers. In the public schools all notices that go home to parents are written in two languages.
An estimated 2,000 to 2,500 Brazilians live year-round on the Island, accounting for more than 10 per cent of the year-round population Islanders have embraced facets of the Brazilian culture that have emerged on the Island, from Portuguese language classes offered by local libraries to the Brazilian music, dancing and food now available at a range of down-Island venues.
So it would only make sense for Experience Martha’s Vineyard Magazine to partner with Azul Airlines https://www.voeazul.com.br as a proud Title Sponsor.
Welcome aboard the company that is proud to serve Brazil!
With Azul you are always where you deserve it: Up there. This is because there they do everything to make you feel special. The characteristics and differentials of their service are the result of the work of a team that constantly thinks about their needs.
They are the fastest growing airline in Brazil since they began operations in December 2008, currently with the largest air network in the country serving more than 100 destinations throughout Brazil with daily flights departing from Fort Lauderdale and Orlando!
Business Insider https://www.businessinsider.com/ has named Azul’s founder David Neeleman one of the 10 people transforming how the world gets around as a prolific airline entrepreneur who has mastered the needs and desires of consumers and their birds-eye view for the future of low-cost air travel.
David Neeleman is one of the most abounding and successful industrialist the airline industry has seen in the modern era of flight. For his next act, he's looking to bring affordable air travel to under-served communities in the US. Neeleman has been the founder or a co-founder of four airlines: JetBlue, Azul Brazilian Airlines, WestJet, and Morris Air, which was sold to Southwest Airlines. He's also the co-owner of Portugal's national airline, TAP Air Portugal.
In addition, they have expanded their direct-flight operations to the United States and Portugal by operating A330 aircraft equipped with the most in-flight entertainment system, catering especially for the Business and Economy classes. Also, more international routes are operated by Azul: Buenos Aires, Punta Del Este, Montevideo and Cayenne.
Today, with approximately one third of the Brazilian civil aviation market in terms of takeoffs, Azul has established itself as the third largest airline in the country.
The quality of its services has already been attested by numerous national and international awards.
In 2019, Azul is the #1 airline in South America, and #7 globally on https://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/azul-is-once-again-selected-as-the-best-airline-in-latin-america-by-tripadvisor-300828005.html

Overnight flight on a brand new A330 was a nice and pleasant experience. Two meals and attentive service and nice amenities in Economy class. First time on Azul and will definitely choose Azul then next time I fly to Brazil or wherever Azul flies! We did spend a few extra $$ for upgraded legroom--worth it. Return flight was also nonstop but daytime and a similar experience.
